Can I use Top Coat for chrome?

Top Coat is not formulated for chrome powder application. Chrome particles block UV light from reaching the gel below. Use Top Chrome before applying chrome powder. Top Chrome creates the properly cured surface chrome powder needs to adhere. After chrome application, seal with Top Coat or Top Plus.

How do I restore shine on a worn top coat?

Wipe the top coat surface with acetone. This removes accumulated dirt, hand lotion residue, and the film that builds up from daily contact. The original gloss comes back. No need to reapply color or top coat. This works between appointments to keep the manicure looking fresh.

Why does my top coat dull after a few days?

Daily contact with cleaning products, hand sanitizer, soap, and friction creates a film on the surface that dulls the gloss. The top coat is not breaking down. The shine is underneath the film. Wipe with acetone to remove the buildup and restore the finish.

Check the lamp. A tacky layer that is thick or gummy indicates the lamp is not delivering the correct wavelength or intensity. With other brands, a thick tacky layer after curing often indicates high monomer content in the formula that is not converting to polymer during cure. That uncured material sitting on the surface is a skin sensitization risk.

My top coat is peeling off in sheets. What is wrong?

Peeling in sheets usually traces back to product incompatibility between the top coat and the color layer underneath. Mixing top coat from one brand with color from another brand creates a bond failure between layers. The products were not formulated to work together. Under-curing can also cause peeling. If the color layer underneath was not properly cured before top coat was applied, the top coat has nothing stable to bond to.

How do I prevent contaminating my top coat bottle?

Clean the brush before putting it back in the bottle after every application. Pigment from the color layer transfers onto the brush during top coat application. If that pigment goes back into the bottle, every pale and white color service after that picks up the tint. Keep a separate lint-free wipe at your station for cleaning the top coat brush before recapping.

Can I use Top Coat with other brand gel polishes?

If flooding is an issue, cure one nail at a time in warm conditions, use less product on the brush, and work quickly before the gel moves. For services where standard viscosity floods into texture or detail work, switch to Top Plus. The thicker viscosity holds position during application.

Is gel top coat better than regular nail polish top coat?

Gel top coat cures under UV/LED light into a crosslinked polymer network. Regular nail polish top coat dries through solvent evaporation. The cured gel network is harder, more scratch-resistant, and maintains gloss longer than air-dried polish. That is why gel manicures last weeks and regular polish chips within days.

Is Top Coat HEMA free?

Do I need a special lamp for Top Coat?

Proper cure depends on the lamp's diode count, diode quality, and actual output, not the wattage printed on the box. Wattage is an electrical input number, not a measure of what reaches the nail. The Pro Arch Rival Nail Lamp runs 53 diodes at 30W. Using a different lamp means unknown cure conditions, and undercured product causes lifting, dullness, and skin sensitivity.

What is the shelf life of Top Coat?

Sealed bottle shelf life is 24 months from manufacture date when stored at room temperature out of UV exposure. Once opened, expect 12 to 18 months of working life with proper storage.

Is Top Coat vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. The Top Coat formula contains no animal-derived ingredients, and the product is not tested on animals at any stage. Animal-derived ingredients are rarely used in nail products. No. We do not make that claim. Hypoallergenic means below average allergy potential, not no allergy potential.
