Any oil, lotion, or grease will do this to any matte surface. Wipe the nail with acetone to remove the oil from the texture. The matte returns. How do I restore the matte finish between appointments?

Wipe the nail surface with acetone. Oil, lotion, and daily contact create a film on the matte texture that makes it look shiny. The matte is still underneath. The acetone removes the film. The texture returns without reapplication.

Why does my matte finish wear off after a few days?

Two things happening. Oil and lotion from daily hand contact create a temporary sheen on the matte surface. This is removable with acetone. Daily friction from gripping objects and hand contact also gradually smooths the matte texture through mechanical wear. The acetone wipe addresses the oil. The friction is normal wear on any matte surface.

Is matte top coat less durable than gloss top coat?

No. Matte Top is durable. It does not chip. The velvety texture is the surface feel, not a reflection of the product's strength underneath. Scratches and scuffs are more visible on matte surfaces than on gloss because any mark creates a shiny line against the matte background. On gloss, the same scratch blends in. The matte surface shows wear differently, not more.

Can I do matte and gloss on the same nail?

Yes. Apply Matte Top over the entire nail and cure. Then apply Top Coat or Top Plus to the areas you want glossy and cure again. The glossy top coat bonds to the cured matte surface. Can I use Matte Top over chrome?

What is the shelf life of Matte Top?

Sealed bottle shelf life is 24 months from manufacture date when stored at room temperature out of UV exposure. Once opened, expect 12 to 18 months of working life with proper storage.

Is Matte Top vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. The Matte Top formula contains no animal-derived ingredients, and the product is not tested on animals at any stage. Animal-derived ingredients are rarely used in nail products.
